Privacy
What these sites collect
Very little. There are no accounts, no sign-up forms, no cookies and no analytics on foundrynw.com or on any of the tools. Here is exactly what does happen when you visit.
The numbers you type
Each tool does its math in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to Foundry NW: the tool forms don't send anything, and the sites' security settings block form submissions altogether.
As you type, the tool writes your answers into the page's address, so you can bookmark or share the result. That address stays in your browser's history like any other. If you share it, the person you send it to sees those answers. If you open or reload an address that has them, it goes to our web host as part of the request, the same as any web address.
Cookies and tracking
None of the Foundry NW pages set cookies, and none of them run analytics, advertising or tracking scripts. The sites' security settings only let a page run its own scripts, so a script from another site can't load.
What the web host sees
The sites are hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare handles each request, which includes your IP address and details your browser sends, such as its type and the page asked for, to deliver the page and protect the site from attacks. Cloudflare also asks your browser to report failed connections to it, which helps it keep its network working. Cloudflare's dashboard shows the site owner traffic totals and details of requests it blocked as attacks; Foundry NW keeps no logs or analytics of its own. Cloudflare's use of the information is covered by the Cloudflare privacy policy.
Fonts
The pages use three typefaces served by Google Fonts. To show them, your browser asks Google's servers for the font files, so Google receives that request, including your IP address. Google's use of it is covered by the Google privacy policy.
The "check price" buttons
Some tools have "check price" buttons that go to HVACDirect or Amazon. Nothing goes to them until you click one. When you do, you're on the store's site: it may set its own cookies, including one that credits a sale to Foundry NW so it can pay a commission. What the store collects is covered by its own privacy policy. The affiliate disclosure explains the buttons.
Other links
The tools link makers' pages, spec sheets and government sources, and this site links the Foundry NW channel on YouTube. No video player or other site is embedded in these pages, so nothing from those sites loads until you click through.
Children
The tools are for homeowners and aren't directed at children. Foundry NW doesn't ask anyone for personal information.
Changes
If what the sites collect changes, this page will be updated to say so. The date of the last update is at the bottom of the page.
